The Department of Chemistry at New York University invites applications for a full time, non tenure-track teaching appointment as Clinical Associate Professor and Director of the Organic Teaching Laboratories, to start June 1, 2012. A final decision is subject to administrative and budgetary approval. Responsibilities primarily include oversight of the organic teaching laboratory infrastructure and operations, assisting faculty members teaching undergraduate Organic Chemistry, teaching in the undergraduate Organic Chemistry laboratory, training and supervising graduate student laboratory instructors, and updating laboratory curriculum and procedures to meet evolving needs. A Ph.D. in Chemistry, relevant teaching experience, and a strong interest in innovation of laboratory programs is expected. Appointment will be renewable at three-year intervals following an initial one-year appointment. The position includes administrative duties throughout the academic year and summer, and summer teaching opportunities may be available as well.
