New York University Abu Dhabi invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in inorganic chemistry, preferably with interests in materials science and solid state chemistry. In addition, candidates with strong background in energy and environmental science, electrical and magnetic characterization of materials, and catalysis are welcome to apply. Candidates at all ranks will be considered, but applications from highly qualified candidates at the rank of Associate or Full Professor are particularly encouraged. At this time, we are seeking individuals with a history of outstanding accomplishments in research and scholarship, with an interest in teaching and guiding undergraduate research projects, and in advising graduate students.
Successful candidates will find a vibrant research and teaching environment that includes supportive and highly motivated colleagues, access to significant resources, a competitive startup package, and broad opportunities for interdisciplinary, collaborative research across the different science and engineering areas being developed at NYU Abu Dhabi as well as across campuses of the NYU system. Furthermore, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to compete for research support from US funding agencies.
The research facilities at NYUAD are state-of-the-art and include single-crystal and powder X-ray diffractometers, 500 and 600 MHz NMR spectrometers, ultra-high definition Q-TOF LC-MS, scanning electron and atomic force microscopes, confocal Raman AFM SNOM combined systems, equipment for spectroscopic, microscopic, thermal and chemical analysis, high performance computing Linux cluster, and design and manufacturing facilities.
The terms of employment are competitive and include housing subsidies and educational subsidies for children. Faculty may also spend time at NYU New York and other sites of the global network, engaging in both research and teaching projects. The appointment might begin as soon as September 1, 2015, but candidates may elect to start as late as September 1, 2016.
